Probation report ordered in break-in case

A man yesterday appeared before acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and pleaded guilty to charges of larceny and break and enter.

It is alleged that Steffon Archer, between June 12 and September 13, 2010, broke into Orwin Henry’s 5th Street, Alberttown home and stole several articles, valued at over $1,000,000.

According to the prosecution, the defendant and the virtual complainant (VC) are known to each other. On the first day in question, Archer was seen by the VC herself moving items out of her home.

On the next occasion the accused was seen by neighbours carrying articles out of the woman’s home. The matter was then reported and Archer was subsequently arrested by the police.

When Archer was asked by the magistrate what he had  done with the articles, he said he had sold them.

A probation report was ordered by the magistrate before sentencing. Bail was rejected by Police Corporal Vinetta Pindar and the matter was adjourned until March 21.
