International Table Tennis Federation Level One Coaching Conductor Sydney Christophe last Sunday acknowledged the success of his training programme at the awards ceremony held following the conclusion of the annual Mashramani table tennis tournament at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
“First let me express how happy I am to come back home and receive such a warm welcome by the Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA), not forgetting the excellent treatment I received so thank you very much Mr. President,” Christophe told the gathering which included Director of Sport Neil Kumar, GTTA executives, players and fans.
Christophe, a former Caribbean men’s singles champion, lauded the current executive for its activeness in moving the sport to a higher level.
“From tournaments, to coaching programmes, to umpire clinics, to outreach programmes they have done it all, they have actively engaged players, coaches, administrators and sponsors and for that we are very grateful, because of this they have allowed a lot of people to come out of the woodwork,” he declared.
Christophe also stated that he was honoured to be the first Course Conductor trained in the United States of America to carry out a Level One course here.
“To the participants of the of the course I must say how wonderful a time we had together and I’m sorry if I worked you hard, I did it because I believe you will be the best ever coaches in Guyana and it will be reflected in your students’ performances,” he declared.
Christophe requested that his colleagues in the GTTA should get involved in the sport at some level since he knows they follow its progression.
He ended by making a presentation of a quantity of different Games medals to Commissioner Greene.
