Guyanese players Troy Cornelius and Devon Clements both struck half centuries in the Sunday League cricket series in Trinidad on the weekend.
Cornelius struck a hard hitting 64 as SIS Central Sports made 171 all out in 49.2 overs against Moosai Sports. The right hander struck a six and five fours in his entertaining knock. In reply, Clements hammered 56 and former Trinidad and Tobago opener Mario Belcon 83, as Moosai romped to victory at 175/4 off 42 overs. Clements struck two sixes and four fours in his knock, to lead Moosai to the win.
Playing the same match were two other Guyanese in Neil Williams and Mahendra Nagamootoo but they both failed to make the headlines. Nagamootoo took one for 27 with his leg-spinners.
Elsewhere, the story was the same for all rounder Chris Barnwell, as he failed with the bat and ball, as W-Connection lost to a star-studded T&TEC.
