PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – Trinidad & Tobago have shifted their fifth round match in the WICB Regional first-class championship against Leeward Islands to the Queen’s Park Oval.
Azim Bassarath, president of the T&T Cricket Board, confirmed the change, and indicated the unpredictability of the weather had forced the switch.
T&T were set to play their next regional fixture at the National Cricket Centre in Couva, central Trinidad from March 11 to 15.
Bassarath noted that the NCC ground does not drain off easily, and the West Indies Cricket Board agreed to shift the venue, following a request from the T&TCB.
He said he was confident that T&TCB officials and their counterparts at Queen’s Park Oval could work together to ensure all arrangements are in place for the fixture next weekend.
T&T are currently second in the regional standings with 33 points. They trailed three-time reigning champions Jamaica by three points, the same margin by which they are ahead of the England Lions.
