Leonard and Randolph Allicock, who were arraigned for the December 31, 2009 murder of Wendell Tappin, were discharged by Magistrate Fazil Azeez on Tuesday, after they were found not guilty of the charge.
At the end of the preliminary inquiry (PI), which concluded on Tuesday, Magistrate Azeez informed the men that they were found not guilty of the charge as a prima facie case was not made out against them. A third man, Steve Allicock, had also been named a defendant in the case but the charge against him was subsequently withdrawn.
Tappin, a mason called ‘Keyco,’ 23, of 89 La Penitence Street, was fatally chopped about his body while on his way to collect a cell phone in Hill Street, Albouystown.
Accounts are that two men confronted Tappin, with one holding him down while the other chopped him. Tappin was rushed to the Georgetown Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
