A young cyclist is dead after being struck in a hit-and-run driver while riding on a Timehri, East Bank Demerara road last evening.
Lennox Kallicharran, 23, died while being rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was officially pronounced dead sometime after 9pm. According to reports, Kallicharran was riding his bicycle on the road when he was struck by a mini-bus. The driver drove away after the incident, refusing to stop to render assistance.
A Guyana Defence Force ambulance rushed Kallicharran to the hospital. Reports said that he suffered head injuries.
Police are investigating the incident.
