Dear Editor,
I applaud the efforts by those in authority to enforce a ‘decent’dress code for persons entering certain government buildings/agencies. This is indeed commendable as standards are
falling all around us.
I left home one sunny day fully clothed, but in a sleeveless blouse that would cause no head to turn. It was only when I arrived at a certain office that I remembered the dress code. However, I had to comply with the rules, so I turned away.
Nearby was a young woman ‘correctly’ dressed in jeans and sleeved blouse, but the front of her blouse was cut so deep and wide, that she could not even have coughed without risking full exposure.
She was allowed to enter the building.
I would like to make this humble suggestion. Please add to the interdiction that
reads: ‘No short pants, no sleeveless tops…’ – no plunging necklines.
Yours faithfully,
Claudia Heywood
