Horrific crashHorrific crash: A smash-up between this taxi and this Ford F150 pick-up on the Crane, West Coast Demerara public road early yesterday morning left four injured but miraculously no-one sustained life threatening injuries.The driver of the taxi, Marvin Kissoon suffered a fractured hip and was admitted to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) while the driver of the pick-up, identified as Roy Ramjiwan suffered a fractured foot and was treated and sent away. There were three others in the pick-up and two also suffered injuries including a broken foot, Stabroek News was told.The accident occurred at about 2:30 am yesterday. Kissoon was heading back to Georgetown after dropping off someone at Leonora while the pick-up was heading in the direction of Parika when the two collided. Both vehicles were wrecked and the pick-up ended up in the ditch. According to a resident, after the smash-up, they had to use trucks and chains to get the men out of the vehicles.The men were initially rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital and then later transferred to the GPH for further treatment.Ramjiwan was not the owner of the pick-up and the owner, who identified himself as Johnny, at the scene yesterday called for police to be on the roadways in the night, particularly during the weekends, when many consume alcohol. “If they know cops are on the street, at least they would try to be more careful”, he said. Police are investigating the incident.
