Former Guyana Open champion Mike Mangal had to pull all the stops to edge out teenage prodigy Avinda Kishore in last Saturday’s Kissoon Group of Companies sponsored Medal Play Golf Tournament at Lusignan.
Mangal shot a gross 75 for a net 68 he squeeze past Avinda Kishore who scored
the same net (74 gross, 6 handicap) 68 but was not as good on the last
nine holes as the champion.
Third place went to George Bulkan who shot a gross 84 (handicap 15 net 69).
Nearest to the pin was Paul Oudit.
With the course in decent condition after heavy rains, the tournament was well attended with over 40 players participating.
Club Treasurer Brian Hackett thanked longstanding member and past president Hemraj Kissoon for his continued sponsorship and generosity towards the club.
Kissoon said his company could always be relied on to support golf in Guyana and as part of this support he donated two sets of junior clubs and had gifts for all the players.
In addition, a raffle was held for three lazy boy chairs.
Local telecommunications giant GT&T will sponsor this weekend’s tournament at the Lusignan Golf Club.
