Relatives of the St Paul student who was injured when she was hit by a bus transporting school children are furious that the driver has since been released on bail.
Christine Maria Melville, 7, of Pigeon Island, East Coast Demerara was struck down on Monday morning at a pedestrian crossing as she was waiting to cross the Plaisance public road to go to school.
The child’s grandmother Nazratoon Ali, called Patsy, said when she went to the Sparendaam Police Station yesterday midday to drop off the child’s medical she saw the woman paying her bail and collecting her receipt. “This is not going to go down suh I need justice,” Patsy said.
Meanwhile in the Paediatric Ward of the Georgetown Public Hospital, the child said that she was feeling a little better since the leg was not hurting as much. The child sustained injuries to her right knee and instep.
