Contract green-lit for potable water for Dazzell residents

Residents of Dazzell Housing Scheme on the East Coast Demerara can expect potable water supply, following the approval of a $42.66 million contract for the supply and installation of transmission and distribution mains in the area.

This was announced by Cabinet Secretary Dr Roger Luncheon at his weekly press briefing yesterday.

Earlier this year, residents of the area bemoaned the fact that after several years, there is still no running water to their pipes or homes. They also said they were forced to depend on the rain water or the trucks that pass through the area once a day to distribute water.

In addition, Luncheon said the administration has given approval for two contracts valued $49.30 million and $40 million, which will be of benefit to the Guyana Water Incorporated, being for the supply and delivery of chlorine gas and aluminium sulphate (alum), respectively.
