Route 44 bus strike fizzles out

Although not all Route 44 buses returned to work yesterday, there was no assembly along the East Coast Public Road.

Contacted yesterday, bus driver, Kalicharran Rooplall, who had told this newspaper that he intended to stand his ground, said he would be working as of today. “Who am I to stay home for 3 days while my comrades out working? I can’t fight for everybody else’s right… I just take the day off but I will be going back to work tomorrow,” the man said.

A similar statement was given from yet another bus driver who two days ago had said he did not plan on ending his strike until the fare was increased. Rudolph Marshall explained that most of his colleagues have returned to work. “I don’t know if anybody plan to continue striking tomorrow but I stay home today and I plan on going out back to work from tomorrow,” the man continued.

Most buses are back at work and according to one commuter (no name given), persons are no longer experiencing difficulty in getting transportation.
