The GT&T 10/10 Softball Cricket competition continued last weekend at various venues around the country with two brilliant performances in the Georgetown and West Coast Demerara zones.
With six hundreds and five, five-wicket hauls already recorded in the tournament, Dhanraj Ramsammy of Pine Star from the Georgetown zone added his name to the list of century scorers with a classy 109 while Akash Rahaman of Alliance X1 from the West Coast Demerara zone picked up five wickets for six runs in two overs, with a helmet trick coming in one over, according to a press release.
Meanwhile the Essequibo zone has provided most of the winners so far to go on in the tournament from different sub- zones with Goulain Super Market Club winning in the Pomeroon zone for males while the Wakapoa females won. In the South Essequibo zone Adventurer Sports Club (A) came out victorious on the male side while the Capoey Arrivals won the female version and in the North Essequibo Zone Capoey Warriors won in the female format of the game while the male winners are yet to be decided.
While the Essequibo region provided most of their group winners, matches in Georgetown, Berbice, East Bank and West Coast zones are still ongoing because of the vast number of teams.
With the tournament heading into its third week of competition this weekend, the competition will surely become more intense with the last sixteen teams from last year’s edition of the tournament still in the competition and looking to repeat the feat of reaching the final stages of the tournament as the March 26 date for the beginning of the super sixteen stage approaches.
