The inaugural Len’s Craft Optical/Sunburst Orange Juice Under-15 League for city teams which was set to kick off today at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) Ground was postponed due to the consistent rainfall which put the venue under water.
Four matches were scheduled to take place today with Sunburst Camptown opposing GFC; BK International Western Tigers taking on Houston Stars, Flamingo coming up against Santos and Fruta Conquerors versus Renaissance.
According to a release from the tournament coordinator, the matches are rescheduled for next Saturday.
This is the first tournament under the new executive of the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) headed by Lt. Cdr. Vernon Burnett and the winning team will receive a trophy and gold medals.
The runners-up will receive a trophy and silver medals while the third place finisher will receive bronze medals and a trophy.
The fourth place finisher will receive a trophy while there are also individual prizes for the tournament’s Most Valuable Player (MVP), Highest Goal Scorer and Best Goalkeeper.
Matches will be played every Saturday at the same venue as the top two teams from each group advancing to the semi finals.
According to the rules of the tourney, only players born on or after January 1, 1996 are eligible.
