Persistent overnight rain fall and early morning showers forced the Mayor’s Cup Knockout Tournament double header which was scheduled for the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) Ground last night to be rescheduled to a later date.
According to the tournament coordinator Lennox Arthur, the two matches between Alpha United and BV Triumph and Santos and Victoria Kings have been rescheduled to Monday at the same venue with the normal 6pm and 8pm kick off times.
Arthur said thus far the only things threatening the event are the inclement weather and crowd turn out which has not been up to standard and what he expected.
Fingers are still crossed for the weather to hold up and allow tomorrow’s double header between Camptown and Bakewell Buxton Stars and Western Tigers and Beacon United to kick off.
However, if the rain does not hold up today the GFC Ground will continue to be submerged which will make it unfit for play for a few days.
