– Suriname coach Redjosentono says his team means business
The Mackenzie Sports Complex Ground in Linden will come alive tonight with the first round match-up between hosts, Milerock and Suriname’s Inter Moengotapoe in the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) club Championships which gets underway at 7:30pm.
Stabroek Sports was able to speak to the Bryan Joseph, coach of the CFU debutants Milerock, before their encounter and he was on positive note that the Linden side could emerge victorious.
“We are confident going into the match based on the preparation we did and we understand the importance of the match. We were hampered by the weather for a couple days but I thought we did enough work to improve,” the former national footballer told Stabroek Sport.
When questioned about his team’s strong points Joseph replied:”We have good players in attack and most of them look like they are in form so a lot of offensive plays will be expected. Our game plan is trying to win the game without conceding.
“The only thing we would have loved to work on some more would be team organization because we need to do more in defence when there are turnovers,” Joseph added.
Jospeh said he believes that his team has shown great improvement after their preparatory stage especially in their second warm-up match against Alpha United which they drew 0-0.
On the other hand, coach of Suriname club Inter Moengoetapoe, Eduard Redjosentono, said yesterday that his team will be coming hard at the Milerock Football Club when the two clash in their first game of the CFU CONCACAF Club Championships at Mackenzie Sports Club ground today.
Redjosentono, speaking with Stabroek Sport yesterday after his team’s practise session on the lawns of the Ocean View International Hotel, said he believes that it is necessary to open the championship bid with a strong message.
“We mean business tomorrow [today] and football is business,” the coach quipped.
Redjosentono, who barely speaks English, said that his team’s preparation covered all the bases, including playing Holland, along with other leading clubs.
“It is good for the team coming here to play now. We are here to play to ensure that we move to the next round”, the coach added.
According to Redjosentono, his team does not know much about Milerock squad therefore his team was advised to stick to the basics and capitalise on all opportunities that may come their way.
He pointed out that the strength of the team lies in the players’ unity and a strong forward line.
