Caribbean Under-19 girls singles champion Ashley Khalil toppled Steven Xavier on Saturday as the Guyana Squash Association Kool-Aid Junior Skill Level tournament continued at the Georgetown Club.
In what could be considered a “battle of the sexes” Khalil began confidently taking the first set 11/7.
Xavier, however seemed reluctant to put up with that level of indignity and promptly took the next two sets 11/7, 11/8 for a two sets to one lad.
However, Khalil showed the stuff that made her a Caribbean champion digging deep to pull out the remaining two games 11/3, 11/3 and advance to the next round.
Xavier did not go quietly. His incredible retrieving skills were put to the test as Khalil sent him diving into all the corners of the court.
