The Guyanese pair of Neil Williams and Devon Clements continues to grab the headlines in Trinidad and Tobago with their batting exploits.
Both of them struck centuries for Moosai Sports but their team’s total of 351 for five declared was overhauled by Central Sports, as they reached 375 for nine in response in the opening round of the Eastern Credit Union National Premier League series. Williams who has been in rich form this season struck 139 and Clements got 105. Another Guyanese getting some runs was Homchand Pooran, who stroked 44 for FC Clarke Road in their first innings effort of 231 all out against PowerGen. Dropped T&T players Samuel Badree 5/77 and Dave Mohammed 4/79 were the star bowlers for PowerGen. The ‘Powerboys’ in response made 87 for two when rain washed out most of the second day’s play and the game ended as a no-result. Barbadian medium pacer Jevon Searles was also in good form capturing 2/23, as Preysal were skittled out for 95. Alescon Comets in response made 281 and the game ended in a draw. Meanwhile, discarded Barbadian all rounder Dwayne Smith played the key role in Queen’s Park’s victory over Merryboys at Serpentine Road in Port-of-Spain.
Smith was the star of the show on the opening day taking six wickets for just five runs as Merryboys with fellow Barbadians Ashley Nurse and Alcindo Holder on board, could manage only 64 all out. Queen’s Park responded with 136 all out and Smith scored more than half the runs, smashing a typically aggressive 70. Batting a second time, Merryboys made 104 leaving QPCC needing 31 for victory which got at 33 without loss.
