The Ministry of Agriculture’s Hydromet Service is advising all residents of coastal, low lying and riverain communities to take the necessary precautions as the spring tide alert is in effect.
A release today from the ministry said that the current spring tide which is one of the highest will be in effect for the period of March 16-24. It said that residents/farmers of coastal low lying and riverain communities such as the Mahaica, Mahaicony, Abary and Pomeroon Rivers/Creeks in particular are asked to be vigilant and monitor the situation closely to take precautionary measures against water accumulation on the land.
