A defect in one of the Guyana Power & Light’s (GPL) transmission lines has affected most of the circuits in Demerara, leading to a fluctuating power supply this evening.
GPL Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Bharrat Dindyal told Stabroek News that this afternoon a fault was found leading to one of the transmission lines. He said that the problem has been found and that it is being fixed.
“We are restoring power to some areas now,” Dindyal told this newspaper at about 6:55 pm this evening. Several areas along the East Coast Demerara, in Georgetown and along the East Bank Demerara have been affected.
