CAVE HILL, Barbados, CMC – Combined Campuses & Colleges will look to cement their place in the semi-finals, when they face Guyana in the sixth round of the WICB Regional first-class championship, starting today at the Three Ws Oval.CCC remained in fourth place in the Championship on 33 points, after they gained first innings points on the road in their drawn fifth round match against current leaders and three-time defending champions Jamaica, which was badly affected by rain at Chedwin Park.
Guyana moved-up to sixth place on 16 points, after they conceded first innings points and escaped with a draw at home in their previous match against the England Lions, which was also badly affected by rain at the Guyana National Stadium.
CCC’s efforts have been setback slightly however. All-rounder Raymon Reifer has been sidelined with a back injury, but Nekoli Parris has been drafted in to the squad, and brings the experience of a couple seasons in the regional competition with him.
Guyana captain Assad Fudadin had spoken following the previous match about fortifying the batting, but the national selectors have p
ropped-up the bowling instead with the addition of fast bowler Keon Joseph replacing all-rounder Royston Crandon. The batting got a little attention with the highly-regarded Richard Ramdeen brought in to replace former Young West Indies batsman Gajanand Singh.
CCC have won the previous two matches they have contested against the Guyanese on home soil, with a 96-run victory two years ago, followed by a five-wicket triumph last year.
