A female prisoner who is currently on trial was allegedly impregnated by a policeman.
The policeman has since “absconded,” the police said in a release last evening.
The 19-year-old prisoner, according to police, “has made the allegation under dubious circumstances and she has refused to give a written statement.” She reportedly told police and she and the policeman carried on their relationship whenever she went to the court. Police further reported that the prisoner also alleged that the rank gave her two tablets to drink and “she lost the baby.”
She has been medically examined by a Government Medical Officer, who opined that she had an incomplete abortion, for which she is receiving medical attention, police said. Investigations into the allegation are ongoing.
