A defect in one of the Guyana Power & Light’s (GPL) transmission affected most of the circuits in Demerara, leading to a fluctuating power supply last evening.
GPL Chief Executive Officer Bharrat Dindyal told Stabroek News that yesterday afternoon a fault was found leading to one of the transmission lines.
He said that the problem was found and that it was being fixed. “We are restoring power to some areas now,” Dindyal told this newspaper at about 6:55 pm.
Several areas along the East Coast Demerara, in Georgetown and along the East Bank Demerara were affected.
