The two entities, mainly represented by GT&T’s Chief Executive Officer, Yog Mahadeo and GMR&SC President, Raj Boodhoo, inked the contract for the 20M which will be distributed over a three-year period in the presence of GMR&SC members, among others at the brief press conference.
“GT&T has long been a significant supporter of motor racing… GT&T also offers sponsorship for our racers in recent times.
“It is important for me to extend heartfelt thanks to the management of GT&T, both past and present for their generosity over the years which ensures that motor racing continues to be a dominant sport in Guyana and continues to grow year to year” said Boodhoo prior to the contract signing.
Boodhoo revealed that the funds are intended to be utilized for the completion of the race track at the South Dakota Circuit, which is also being funded in part by the Government of Guyana and the GMR&SC.
The GMR&SC head further acknowledged GT&T and Mahadeo for the generous contribution especially at such a critical point when works to resurface and extend the race track are underway and “80 completed.
“I assure you that your contribution will greatly benefit the sport of motor racing for many years to come… I look forward to working with GT&T in the future on many more ventures in the interest of motor racing as we strive to build a strong relationship,” he added.
While also addressing the small gathering, Mahadeo expressed GT&T’s commitment to sport, especially motor racing and promised more cooperation between GT&T and GMR&SC in years to come.
“When we [GT&T] collaborate with the GMR&SC, we know that we are not just collaborating with a club, but we are collaborating with vibrant people who are also winners,“ he declared.
Mahadeo added that he was very proud of his company’s collaboration with GMR&SC and was eager to undertake future endeavours with the sports club.
“I will continue on behalf of GT&T to engage in the GMR&SC and see what next we can do, what new heights we can get to and what new things can be achieved by this collaborative effort between the GMR&SC and GT&T” Mahadeo added.
