For the third consecutive occasion, the prosecution has asked for more time to file additional statements in the harassment matter relating to Babita Sarjou.
Prosecutor Vishnu Hunt told the court on Friday that additional statements are yet to be filed. He then made a successful application to be granted another date to achieve this.
Magistrate Geeta Chandan Persid-Edmond before whom the case was called, subsequently adjourned the matter to April 19.
The commencement of the trial is being hindered because the statements have not yet been filed.
The defendant, Sarjou’s former husband, Anand Narine was present at court when the matter was called.
The allegation against Narine is that on August 31, 2010 at Georgetown, he exposed pictures of Babita Sarjou to public view to corrupt public morals.
Narine is reported to have plastered copies of a nude picture of his former wife Sarjou in public including on the fence of her then place of employment, BK International.
The man denied the charge and was admitted to bail in the sum $75,000.
In August last year, months after Sarjou was hired at BK International, employees arrived at work to find printouts of a nude photograph of the young woman pasted on the fence and on trucks belonging to the company. Some workers tore down the photographs in an effort to shield the young woman from embarrassment.
Sarjou was reported missing on the night before Diwali last year and has not been heard from since.
