Meanwhile, the issues surrounding the Association’s incomplete election of office bearers was also discussed at a meeting prior to the tournament, according to committee member Chichester, however not much has changed.
Chichester said that following the discussions persons have now indicated their willingness to contemplate taking up the vacant positions.
As at current the executive body of the association is without a president, vice-president, secretary or treasurer, with the body currently including only the PRO Yvonne Murray, assistant secretary/treasurer Rudolph Michael, organising secretary Orlando Michael and three committee members, two of whom are Julian Skeete and Chichester.
The vacant positions were left open when GASP held its Annual General Meeting which included the election of office bearers on March 6 at the MSC.
According to reports, those nominated for the vacant positions indicated their reluctance to serve, while President of body, Gafoor, has chosen not to seek re-election for the post.
Chichester said that the next tournament is expected to be the Courts Open at which time it is hoped that the positions would be filled.
