The Rigby/Nedd Games which were to be held at the Blairmont Sports Club Ground, Berbice by the Athletics Association of Guyana (AAG) on Sunday will not be held owing to the unfit condition of the ground.
According to President of the AAG Colin Boyce, the event which is supposed to be a memorial meet for the late Roxanna Rigby and David Nedd, who both are from the county of Berbice, has been put off because “the ground is not ready.”
Junior Vice-President of the AAG Brandford Burke told Stabroek Sport via telephone that “none of the grounds are in condition so we met and agreed to revise the whole schedule. Not even the grounds on West Berbice were in good condition.”
Meanwhile selection of the Carifta team will take place today as all AAG council members will meet to discuss this.
“There are some issues with the Carifta team that needs the attention of all the council members so there will be a meeting tomorrow [today] to discuss the team,” Boyce told Stabroek Sport via telephone.
