Police have arrested a Garnett Street, Kitty man who allegedly had an unlicensed firearm among other illegal items in his possession on Saturday evening.
According to a release, ranks of a Tactical Services Unit (TSU) anti-crime patrol responded to a report of threats involving the use of a firearm, and intercepted the driver of motor vehicle PJJ 8117 at Eping Avenue, Bel Air Park in the city.
The police stated that during a search of the vehicle an unlicensed .32 Taurus pistol with 15 matching rounds was found.
Subsequently, a search was conducted at the home of the man at Garnett Street, Kitty, where a further eighteen .32 rounds were found along with an unlicensed .38 Taurus revolver with two matching rounds. In addition a quantity of suspected cocaine, a quantity of suspected marijuana, a quantity of assorted gold jewellery and cash were also taken into the possession of the police.
The man is in police custody and charges will be laid shortly
