Jessica Stephenson produced another personal best time on Friday which helped her finish fourth overall in the 200m breaststroke final at the CONSANAT Youth Championships in Lima, Peru.
80s after upgrading her 100m breaststroke seed time to 1:15.28s during the preliminary heats of the event.
Overall for the 100m breaststroke Stephenson placed fifth.
The race was won by Argentine’s Mijal Asis in 2:34.60s, Asis also placed second in the 100m breaststroke with a time of 1:12.88s. The 100m breaststroke was won by Argentine’s Julia Sebastian in 1:12.71s.
Guyana’s only swimmer at the event, Stephenson competed in the girls 15 – 17 category, a category she recently advanced into and will still be eligible to swim in when the competition is next held in 2013, according to a release from the Guyana Amateur Swimming Association (GASA).
Stephenson was accompanied to the event by Davina Stephenson, who acted as manager/coach.
The release further stated that reports from Davina Stephenson indicate that her charge was very much pleased with her performance and was confident that this will further improve her results at the Carifta Swimming Championships that will be held in Barbados next month.
