The police are investigating an attempted robbery/shooting incident that occurred at about 1900h. on Sunday March 27, 2011 at Butter Fly Backdam, Cuyuni, during which businessman Arnold Torres, 34 years of Moruka, North West District, was shot to his stomach by a man armed with a handgun.
Investigations revealed that Torres was at his business place when he was confronted by the perpetrator who proceeded to beat him while demanding cash and jewellery and then shot him to his stomach, after which he escaped, a police release said.
Torres initially received medical attention at the Bartica Hospital and has been referred to the GPHC, the release added.
