Ryan McKinnon returned to winners row when he won the Guyana National Rifle Association (GNRA) handgun section three-stage Practical Pistol shoot at the Timehri ranges Sunday last.
McKinnon, smallbore vice captain turned back a strong challenge from captain Dale Hing and David Dharry winning two of the three stages against stiff competition that included Murtland Smith who served as Chief Range Officer, Dr. Johan DaSilva, Gordon Richards and James Singh.
In the overall standing McKinnon finished first, with Dharry second and Hing third.
He came out winner of stage one beating Hing and Lawrence Lane while in stage two he got the better of Dharry and Hing.
Dharry won stage three with McKinnon securing the second position while Lane took third place.
In the Novices two-stage competition, Ryan Beharry continued his impressive form this season to win his category followed by Suraj Ramjist in second position and Romeo Yong third. Beharry won the second stage ahead of female competitors Sarah Piggott and Vidushi.
The first stage was won by Ramjist from Beharry and Yong.
Eighteen shooters participated 11 seniors and seven novices.
This was the second major competition for the local smallbore shooters of the Guyana National Rifle Association (GNRA) in what is anticipated to be a very hectic season.
