Guyana’s 2002 census results reported overall unemployment at 11.7% in 2002. The World Bank later reported an overall unemployment rate of 11% in 2007. These numbers while hardly stellar are understandable for a developing country. The real alarm comes from a deeper investigation of the reporting. An alarming 36% of 15 – 19-year-olds are unemployed, while 16.9% of 16 – 24-year-olds and 11% of 25 to 29-year-olds
