Dr Robin Ramcharan, son of well-known Guyanese Dr Bertrand Ramcharan, has just been appointed Professor of International Relations and International Business at the internationally-recognized Alliance University in Bangalore, India. Alliance University is home to the acclaimed Alliance Business School, located in the Silicone Capital of India. Robin has degrees in history, law, international history, and international relations. He previously taught at the Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi.
Robin, who has recently been teaching at universities in Canada, including the University of Toronto and Mc Master University, previously served in the World Intellectual Property Organization, and is a leading author on intellectual property and international security in world affairs. His doctoral work at the Graduate Institute in Geneva was on conflict prevention in ASEAN. He has written a book on this and also a book on the history of the foreign policy of Guyana: The National Security of Guyana. A Study in Foreign Policy.
Robin will be teaching at Alliance University on the changing character of world politics and international relations, with the emergence of new powers like India, Brazil and South Africa. He will also be teaching on intellectual property in world affairs.
