The police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at about 2155h last night on businesswoman Rajpattie Ramnarace, 58 years of Nigg Settlement, Corentyne, Berbice, during which $1.2 million was snatched by two men armed with guns.
Police say that investigations revealed that Ramnarace was in the company of her husband Hemchand Gopaul and three workers and had just arrived home in their vehicle when they were confronted by the perpetrators who held them at gunpoint. The armed men then took away a hand bag containing the cash from Ramnarace after which they escaped.
