Water Street vendors operating illegally along the roadway have been advised to move again by the Mayor and City Council (M&CC) following an incident which left a Mocha Arcadia pensioner dead yesterday.
Compton Lacon, 74, was struck down by an M&CC trailer as it traveled along Water Street, Georgetown in the vicinity of the Bounty Supermarket. Town Clerk Yonette Pluck has since told the Government Information Agency (GINA) that “the vendors outside and at the side of the Supermarket and the congestion that subsequently obtains in that area during the day were contributing factors to Lacon’s death”.
