Seven bids were opened yesterday for the construction of a sanitary block at the maternity building of the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), with the highest bid being some $1.4 million less than the engineer’s estimate.
The bids were opened in the boardroom of the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB). Some of the bid prices are almost half of the engineers’ estimate of $16,112,540. The bidders are: Aura Engineering Company ($12,118,470); Ally Ahmad ($8,638,500); McKenzie Building and Contracting Services ($14,698,175); Compton Best ($9,724,060); Ash Civil Engineering Works ($9,786,395); Alvin Chandramootoo Construction Services ($13,495,550); and Verizon Electrical Associates and General Construction Services ($9,875,980).
