The Iwokrama Inter-national Centre for Rainforest Conservation and Development and the National Archives are hosting an Archive/Records Management Training Workshop aimed at building capacity in archiving records.
The opening ceremony was held on Monday at the Umana Yana and Commonwealth Archivist at Iwokrama Penelope Baker told Stabroek News that the workshop has been funded by the Common-wealth with support from the host organisations and a contribution from the Fund for International Develop-ment of Archives (FIDA).
Baker said that the four-day workshop aims to build capacity in archiving and records management for organisations.
Twenty-five persons will be trained by Janet Foster and Margaret Crocket of the UK and it is hoped that by the end of this workshop a network of professionals in this sector is built since there are only two currently in Guyana.
