Dear Editor,
When I think of students leaving Georgetown armed with weapons to go to a school in Leonora in West Demerara to make war with student(s) there I am horrified. Just imagine what could have happened if the police hadn’t acted promptly and prevented a tragedy.
What I cannot understand is why were the students released to their parents immediately. They should have been held by the authorities for a few days to be corrected and counselled by some in the police or paramilitary. Such aggressive students cannot be properly handled by parents.
Yours faithfully,
W P George
