The Berbice Volleyball Association (BVA) with sponsorship from the Trophy Stall will continue volleyball action this weekend in Berbice with the BVA-organized Trophy Stall Competition for senior players at the GTM hard court in New Amsterdam.
According to a release from the BVA yesterday, the one-day competition is scheduled for Sunday from 09:30 hrs.
“An exciting day of volleyball is anticipated as players will be vying for places on the county squad which will be shortlisted after the competition,” the release stated.
The teams that will be participating in the competition are Port Mourant Jaguars, Rollers of New Amsterdam, Guysuco Training Centre of Port Mourant, Albion, Eglets and Falcons of East Canje.
The competition will be played on a round-robin basis and all the FIVB rules will be enforced.
“The BVA is happy to have the sponsorship of Mr. Ramesh Sunich of the Trophy Stall in Georgetown,” the release added.
Meanwhile, trophies will be presented to the first, second and third place teams and a trophy will also be awarded to the Most Valuable Player of the tournament.
Additionally, medals will be presented to the best setter, best spiker, best blocker, best server, best receiver and best defender.
The BVA is urging all teams to be punctual since penalties will be imposed for lateness and the competition will be played regardless of the weather, according to the release.
