An Amelia’s Ward man was yesterday fined $50,000 for drunk driving.
Subhan Wazir, 34, of 1298 Central Amelia’s Ward, however, denied a charge of dangerous driving, when he appeared on Tuesday before Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Christianburg Magistrates’ Court.
Wazir allegedly drove motor car PJJ 2002 in a manner dangerous to the public on April 2. He was charged with driving the car on the same day while under the influence of alcohol to the extent that he was incapable of having proper control of the vehicle.
He pleaded guilty to the drunken driving charge and the magistrate fined him. He was placed on $50,000 bail on the dangerous driving charge. He is to return to court on June 15 for trial.
