Linden’s Milerock Football Club is readying itself for its second round Caribbean Football Union’s clash with Trinidad and Tobago’s defence Force side.
The professional Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force side is expected to arrive sometime today at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Timehri.
The two teams will clash on Sunday at the Mackenzie Sports Club ground following Milerock’s defeat of Suriname’s Inter Moengotapoe in their home an away tie.
Milerock FC president Bryan Joseph in a press release stated:”The hosting would actually be done by the Guyana Defence Force in terms of providing meals and accommodation for the TT Defence Force team and transportation to some extent, and we are just responsible for moving them from to and from the game.”
Joseph said they have everyting under control.
“We’ve pretty much got all the bases covered, in terms of the hosting…also all arrangements are in place for the match officials,” he stated.
“For the event itself, we are still to get something confirming from Banks DIH as to exactly what they are going to do as well as from the Guyana telephone and Telegraph Company (GT&T), but we are putting systems in place to ensure the event comes on Sunday,” Joseph added.
The Trinidad side is expected at 9am today and will leave Monday morning.
The TT Pro League champions qualified for the second round after a 3-0 victory over Bermuda’s Dandy Town Hornets.
The TT Defence Force team advanced 4-1 on aggregate after the teams played to a 1-1 draw in Bermuda.
Milerock moved through despite losing their first game at home 1-0 against Suriname’s Inter Moengatapoe.
They won the return leg in Suriname 2-1 and subsequently advanced because of the away goal rule despite the 2-2 aggregate.
