Police are seeking help to identify a man who they fatally shot on Saturday at B Field, Sophia while responding to a report of break and enter.
In a press release issued yesterday, police requested that anyone with information that can assist with the identification of the man contact the police on telephone numbers 225-6411, 229-2700 to 2702, 229-2289, 229-2557, 225-8196, 911 or the nearest police station.
The burglar was reportedly shot dead by police in the early hours of that morning, after he was alleged to have rushed at an officer with an object in his hands.
According to the first police release issued after the incident, a police patrol responded to a report of break and enter at a Sophia B Field home around 2am. “Upon arrival at the scene, the police called for the man to come out, whereupon the man rushed menacingly towards the police with an object in his hand, causing the police to resort to the use of force and he was shot,” the release stated. The home was unoccupied at the time.
