Pele Football Club which has as its motto “All for one, one for all” will celebrate its 40th anniversary with a week of activities from the 24-29th of April, and the first four days are scheduled for the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground, Bourda and the final day at the Umana Yana.
According to a press release, the Pele FC Alumni, USA, former players who now live in the USA, is expected to arrive in the country for the grand celebrations.
While no confirmed dates are set for their arrival, the occasion is set to be a memorable one with a Family Fun Day and opening ceremony on the 24th of April.
The day will start with remarks from current president of the Guyana Football Federation, Colin Klass and a representative from both the Ministry of Culture Youth and Sport and the Georgetown Football Association (GFA).
The day will also include a take away lunch and novelty events such as lime and spoon, sack race, etc. The children will also be receiving school packs and ice cream from the Pele FC Alumni and Banks DIH respectively.
Day two will include the participation of some 60 children in a training camp while represented clubs will receive free small goals, courtesy of Banks DIH.
Day three will see the inclusion of a training and mini-camp and there will also be a triple header between Pele under-17 and GFC under 17, Brazilian Masters and Pele FC Alumni USA and the likely introduction of the Brazilian Cup between Pele FC and Santos FC.
However day four will have a double header between Pele FC Masters and Pele FC Alumni for the Banks DIH trophy and Pele FC vs. Alpha United, with the Pele FC greats being honored during the intermission, the release noted.
Meanwhile day five will culminate with a gala award ceremony, dinner and dance. Minister of Culture Youth and Sport, Dr. Frank Anthony is scheduled to deliver the feature address and best wishes will be extended by the GFF president while the distinguished players, supporters and administrators will be honored for their contribution to the club.
