(De Ware Tijd) PARAMARIBO/THE HAGUE – Parliamentarian Oesman Wangsabesari (Mega Combination (MC)/KTPI) is calling for a state investigation of the books of gold mining company Iamgold. According to him, Suriname should not blindly believe the financial reports provided by the gold company, but the State should conduct its own investigation. About five years ago, such an investigation was conducted, as Suriname already suspected then that the company was earning more than it revealed in its financial reports. “I have those suspicions again”, Wangsabesari tells DWT. He has referred this matter to the parliamentary committees for Finance and State Expenditures.
