Canadian High Commissioner Francois Montour performed like a Formula one driver in winning Saturday’s the GBTI sponsored Medal Play golf tournament at Lusignan.
The Lusignan Golf Course was in immaculate condition and Montour (18 handicap) played with great precision to shoot a rear net 63 from a gross 81 to win by four strokes.
Montour admitted that the course was in top shape and he enjoyed the conditions in a highly competitive tournament contested by 40 golfers.
William (8 handicap) Walker copped the second position and the Best Gross with a net 67 from a gross 75.
Third place went to European Union diplomat Albert Russell who shot a net 68 from a gross 87 playing off a 19 handicap.
Muntaz Hanif was Nearest to the Pin at number 8 hole.
GBTI Customer Care and Business Development Officer Roma Narayan-Singh outlined the Bank involvement in community activities and promoted some of the services offered by the financial institution.
GBTI’s Chief Executive Officer Brian Tracey who also participated in the tournament presented gifts to several four players Chatterpaul Deo, Dr. Ram Singh, Andre Cummings and Patrick Prashad who are customers of the bank.
Female players Christine Sukhram and Joaan Deo also received prizes.
Walker, Lusignan Golf Club Secretary thanked GBTI for being a major sponsor of the Club and expressed appreciation to Tracey and staff for their support.
In addition, the Bank’s Administrative Manager Sheldon Noel was also present at the prize giving ceremony.
Meanwhile, the LGC’s Annual General Meeting will take place on Saturday starting at 17:00 hours following a Club tournament.
High on the Agenda will be the Secretary and Treasurer reports and the election of a Management Committee.
