National cycling coach Hassan Mohammed has organized the seventh Annual Cycle Programme sponsored by Universal and General Supplies for Saturday at the National Park Circuit. The event will begin at 09:00 hours and will see races in various categories including BMX Boys 6 to 9 years (2 laps), BMX Boys 9 to 12 years (3 laps), BMX Boys 12 to 14 years (3 laps), BMX Boys Open (3 laps), 12 to 14 years Boys and Girls (3 laps), Veterans Under-50 years (5 laps), Veterans Over–50 years (5 laps), Veterans Over–60 years (5 laps), Juveniles (10 laps), Upright Cyclists (5 laps) and Schoolboys and Invitational (35 laps).
According to reports coming from racing circles, the cyclists on Saturday will be seeking to improve on the times recorded by last year’s winners in the invitational and juvenile races. Alonzo Greaves won the invitational race last year in a time of one hour, 28 minutes and 37 seconds (1:28:37), while Kurt La Rose was the juvenile winner in a time of 26 minutes and 38 seconds (26:38). Manager/ Director of Universal and General Supplies Shameer Baksh will be present to distribute the prizes to the winning cyclists following the races.
