A son who took up his mother’s chair and broke it, after allegedly throwing food into her face which she had earlier served him, was fined $10,000 by Magistrate Fabayo Azore after confessing to a charge of damage to property.
Trevor Sinclair, called ‘Burnham’, however, denied the other charge of assault causing actual bodily harm, an offence which was allegedly committed on his mother Carmen Rogue at her home at Fyrish Village, Corentyne. He was ordered to post $20,000 bail and return to court on May 3.
Police Corporal Roberto Figueira, prosecuting, said that the defendant, a promising wicket keeper, returned home shortly after 03:00hrs last Friday when his mother was preparing meals.
After demanding food, he was served but became annoyed when his mother scolded him over his use of narcotics. As a result he became annoyed and threw the plate of food upon his mother.
Then while she was sweeping up the scattered food he lifted a chair and threw it out of the veranda, damaging the piece of furniture.
