ROSEAU, Dominica, CMC – Nine players from last year’s squad have been retained in the Dominica Under-15 national team for the Windward Islands tournament, which opens today here.
All but newcomers Josiah Hilton, Dion Burton, Damian Thomas, and Ken Joseph were part of last year’s competition.
Head coach Thomas Kentish is banking on this experience to give his side the edge in the competition, which will be contested at Windsor Park in the capital of Roseau and Benjamin Park in the northern coastal community of Portsmouth.
“We have come up with the best possible combination,” said the former Windwards off-spinner.
“The team is a very experienced one since most of the players have played at that level before. I expect them to go out there, and to perform to the best of their ability.
“Although we did not put in the time we would have liked for various reasons, the team is capable of lifting the Championship in front of their home crowd.”
The Ian Lewis-led squad will play its opening fixture against Grenada at Windsor Park, while defending champions St. Lucia face St. Vincent & the Grenadines at Benjamin Park.
Squad:
Ian Lewis (captain), Dion Burton, Kyle Cabey, Kimran George, Shirlon George, Josiah Hilton, Kershaski Jno Lewis, Dishon Joseph, Ken Joseph, Shane Lewis, Chad Phillip, Kristoff Telamaque, Damian Thomas
