The Guyana Amateur Boxing Association (GABA) first Level One course wrapped up yesterday with the distribution of certificates to the successful particiants at the National Gymnasium.
The three-day workshop, which took place at the same venue, was conducted by Tournament Coordinator of the GABA, Terrence Poole with the other facilitators being Dr. Carl Hannamon, Fawcett Jeffery and Lennox Daniels.
According to Poole, the course included the basic fundamentals of amateur boxing for coaches along with theoretical exercises which the 16 participants were able to completely cover.
He thanked the association for giving him the chance to share the knowledge he obtained several years back on a course in Hungary.
Poole added that it was a rather fruitful course which will help coaches to have a better idea of the theoretical and practical aspects of coaching.
President of GABA Steve Ninvalle said that he hopes the participants use they what they have learnt in the gym because this is a start of a long journey back to the good old days.
He charged them with the task of being a link in a chain that is for betterment of the sport.
