The preliminary inquiry (PI) into the murder of 29-year-old Lusignan resident Bridgette Gangadeen was adjourned on Friday without an explanation. Magistrate Sherdell Isaacs, who presides over the matter, was not present at the Vigilance Magistrates’ Court, hence Magistrate Nyasha Hatmin, who was present when the matter was called, adjourned the matter till May 6.
The accused Dwarka Gangadeen, called Dave, was present when the matter was called.
Grass track racer Dwarka Gangadeen was on May 11, 2010 charged with the murder of his wife Bridgette. On May 2, 2010, Bridgette’s mangled remains were discovered on the Vigilance Public Road, a short distance from the entrance of the police station. Her body had suspected marks of violence and police initially said they were treating the woman’s death as a murder. Government pathologist Dr Nehaul Singh subsequently concluded that it was crushing injuries to the head caused by a wheel and a fractured skull that had caused her death.
